Blue Ridge Parkway

Today we went for a drive to and along Blue Ridge Parkway. This was our first taste of "real" mountains since leaving the west and we had a wonderful time. Unfortunately we missed the peak of fall colors, but the scenery was still beautiful. Despite a beautiful forecast in Charlotte, we expected chilly weather in the higher elevations so we dressed warmly and packed mittens, hats and coats. As you can see in the pictures it was a beautiful day. The temperatures were in the mid-seventies so we were slightly over dressed. We made stops at Blowing Rock, Moses H. Cone Memorial House and a small ski resort. We had a great time hiking and Averie was more than happy to pose for MANY pictures!
